Powerpeers
Energy with a social sparkle
More and more people generate their own green energy using solar panels. But what happens when they’re not at home to use the energy they generate? Powerpeers created an online platform that brings together supply and demand of self-generated clean energy. To make energy usage information and insights accessible on mobile devices, Powerpeers asked for help.

Put On Your Innovative Hat
During our 3-day Sprint with the Powerpeers team we explored the strategy, created the concept and got ready for the Desirability Test: showing our prototype to users within our target audience. The test results gave us the green light to work out the concept: an app that gives users 24/7 control over their energy on all devices. One of the features is that customers can pick their own suppliers and gain insight into their energy usage, ensuring 100% green & traceable energy.
Always Know Who’s Powering Your House
Users can choose a friendly neighbor with a solar panel on her roof terrace, or a local farmer with a wind turbine in his backyard. These power sources can be found by location or based on wherever the user is at that moment. Own any solar panels yourself? Then others get to pick you and use your generated energy when you don’t need it. Users can track who’s energy they use at any time, track who’s using theirs or see how much green energy has been generated or used altogether.

Power To The Peers
The app reflects the social character of Powerpeers and has a distinctive human face featuring personal profiles of all the powerpeers in your region. Powerpeers has built an independent, social extension that puts an inspiring spotlight on green energy and the Sharing Economy and makes the industry more transparent.
